Oh my dear sweet newbie friends,
So you've got the bug. Somehow, some way, you realized that you can make money online. Awesome!
Of course, you want to make some! So, how do you start?
This question gets asked all of the time. And I think that has something to do with the answer to this question.
It depends.
Internet marketing, or making money online, is not a cookie-cutter type of gig. There are tons of different ways you can earn your first dollar, TODAY, without any investment. But it depends on you. Your skills, talents, interests, and work ethic.
Oh, and the amount of time you have to work, and the immediacy of your need for cash.
If you need cash right now then offering your services to those in need will make you the quickest buck. My book The Ultimate Freelance & Work At Home Guide details exactly you can get set up as a freelancer, so this post will not go into the details of that.
But to get you started on the right path, think of what you could offer others: writing, graphic design, administrative assistance, data entry, SEO work, customer service, transcription, voice overs... These services are all in demand and you can sell them. You just have to put yourself in front of the eyes of those who need you.
You can check out sites like Elance, Odesk and tons more to find available work.
Affiliate marketing is also a viable option for those starting out, but the returns (in the short term) probably won't come as quickly as they will with freelancing. Affiliate marketing involves promoting others' products for a commission.
You can promote by creating a review website, sending offers to an e-mail list, and in a slew of different ways.
You can also become an Affiliate instantly on sites like Clickbank and Commission Junction.
And dear Lord and Christ above. If you're going to be an affiliate for something and recommend it to others, use it first and get some results with it!
You'd think that doesn't have to be said, but it does, in fact, it's like an industry secret! Those affiliates who make the big bucks? Yeah. They use the product first -- that's how they give out the best reviews, know the best bonuses to include, and make the most money promoting.
However you decide to begin your online-money-making career, DECIDE on one project, with a concrete goal, and work on it until it is done. If you’re wondering what I mean by “multiple streams of income” then you are off to a great start already, because multiple streams of income is the whole point and key to generating a day job slaying income online.
Multiple streams of income means that you are not using just 1 of the money making methods I am going to list, but several or all of them, so you are never relying on just one source of income.
There are literally hundreds of ways to make money online. I am going to give you a broad spectrum analysis of the 3 principle ways people slay their day jobs and earn cash all day, every day online. Remember, those at the top combine all of these methods.
1. Affiliate Marketing – CPS Offers: Affiliate Marketing means to sell someone else’s products.
Here is an easy example: You purchase a Revlon lipstick at your local drug store, and you really like it. It is unlike any lipstick you have bought before! It lasts and doesn’t smudge and all of that other good stuff. You decide to write a review about how great the lipstick is and post it on the Revlon website or forum. Cool.
Now, those who are in the ‘know’ about affiliate marketing know that this review can be MONETIZED to earn you cash while you sleep. You simply sign up as an affiliate of a vendor that sells this Revlon lipstick (such as drugstore.com), and post a link in your review for your readers to easily access and purchase the product.
They buy the product, you earn a commission. This is called a CPS (cost-per-sale) offer because you only earn money when someone buys a product. Here are some of the great benefits of doing CPS offers:

a. You never have to possess or deliver the product you are selling! Notice in our example that you are simply directing an interested party to a website; that is it! The vendor handles everything as you would expect them to, and writes you a commission check.
b. It is FREE to do. There are thousands of Affiliate Marketing programs that you can join for free right now, so you can begin promoting products and earning commissions.
c. The scope is HUGE. You can promote anything. Physical products on sale at websites like bestbuy.com or amazon.com (these are you sites you can sign up to be an affiliate for quickly, easily, and FREEly!) Or informational products such as eBooks and online courses at sites like clickbank.com (Become a clickbank.com affiliate for FREE at Clickbank.com). Anything and everything, you can promote TODAY.
d. The ways you can promote are LIMITLESS. Half of the offers you will see about making money online deal with the different ways you can promote other people’s products. In our example, we wrote a review, you can also make a video, e-mail your friends and clients, make a facebook page, write an ad, and more… and more…
2. Affiliate Marketing – CPA Offers: Cost-per-action (CPA) Offers are different from CPS offers in one very important way: the offer (or conversion) we are looking for is FREE for someone to do. You can direct someone to complete a survey, sign up for a free newsletter, complete a trial offer, or fill out an application, and earn cash each time they successfully do so! Some examples of these that you may have seen are “Complete A Survey For A Chance To Win $500” or “Get A 1 Month Free Trial To NetFlix” or “Sign up for FREE at chemistry.com.”
No one has to spend any money, so the commissions you earn on these types of offers tend to be less than CPS offers, but more people will complete the offer because there is no cost to them. The benefits of CPA marketing are the same as CPS.
3. Adsense / Ad Revenue Sharing: Another hugely popular way to earn an income online is by having a website, and then selling Ad space on that website. You see ads on pretty much every website you visit on the Internet. Adsense, specifically, is a Google partnership program where you agree to showcase Google Ads in return for payment each time someone CLICKS an ad on your site. That’s It! No one needs to purchase or sign up for anything, only click an ad. Here are some of the benefits of Adsense.
a. EASY – Even if you don’t yet have a website! If you think you’re out of the running because of this stream of income is for website owners, think again. Building a website is easier, quicker and cheaper than ever (or even free). You can start out with a free blog at wordpress.com, and place Google Adsense ads on that to begin earning money today. What could you build a website or blog about, you may wonder? How about one of your product reviews… This way a user to your website can either purchase the product you are promoting in your review and earn you a commission there, or click on an Adsense ad and earn you cash there, see how all of this comes together?
b. FREE (AND SO EASY!) – That’s right, you can sign up for Google Adsense for free. You will decide on the amount of space on your website you want to allocate for ads, and Google will give you a simple code to copy and paste on your website. Doesn’t get much easier than that.
So as you surf the web, give the websites you visit a quick look over to figure out which of the methods above the webmaster is using to earn money. 10 times out of 10, at least one of these strategies will be implemented. The question is, are you ready to get in, and how do you get started?
